Sources: Nazem Kadri of Colorado Avalanche has thumb surgery

Sources told Trend Wire that Colorado Avalanche centre Nazem Kadri had thumb surgery on Monday.

It's not clear if Kadri will be able to play in the Stanley Cup finals after Colorado swept Edmonton and moved on to the next round.

Evander Kane, a winger for the Oilers, hit Kadri from behind during Game 3, which the Avalanche won 4-2 on Saturday. 

This hurt Kadri. Kane was banned for one game for the play, so he missed Game 4 on Monday.

Kane was given a five-minute major penalty for boarding at first. Once the NHL's department of player safety decided that it was a dangerous play and that Kadri didn't put himself in a vulnerable position on purpose,
