Brooks sued Depp in 2018 for punching him twice during a drunken rant. He said Depp shouted at him, attacked him twice, and promised him $100,000 to hit back.

Brooks was fired after refusing to swear not to litigate over the event. He accused Depp of taking drugs and being drunk on set.

Emma Danoff, the film's screenplay supervisor, defended Depp, stating she has proof the incident never happened.

She testified in court that Depp only addressed Brooks after he used racial obscenities at a homeless Black lady.

"He quickly sprang up from our shared seat on a planter bench to defend the woman," Danoff recalled. "Depp told Brooks, 'You can't talk to her that way. She's inferior to you? Who're you? "How dare you!"

Danoff said she had images disputing Brooks' assertion that Depp hit him. Camille Vasquez defended Depp in his defamation case against Amber Heard. She didn't comment immediately.
